About: Frewer Brothers

Frewer Brothers Limited incorporating Rayment-Holland

Both companies are long established family run businesses.

With the amalgamation in 1999 of Frewer Brothers and Rayment-Holland, we can now offer a wide range of specialist services and processes to the printing industry.

Frewer Brothers was established as a Limited company in 1932 by Len and Don Frewer. Their father Edwin had run Frewer Engravers a Copperplate printing and Die Stamping company, following the tradition of many generations before. The earliest surviving record we have is a business card detailing:

It is believed that our "several times" Great Grandfather moved from this premises in 1770! As London expanded, various moves took place including Newgate, Lambeth, Tooting and New Malden, eventually moving to Sutton on Armistice day in 1919. The brothers added letterpress printing to their processes, expanding the small factory premises as the company grew, eventually making their part of the business a limited company in its own right.

Rayment-Holland was formed in 1924 and until the takeover in 1999 had been owned by the same family for seventy-three years. Originally called Rayment Brothers Ltd., the business was based in central London and was run by two brothers. After a move to Southwark Street in the 1930's the business passed to the next generation of brothers. The factory was bombed during the blitz in the second world war so the company relocated to Raynes Park where it continued trading until 1999 under the ownership of a third generation of brothers.

Combined strengths The processes now provided in house by the present generation of Frewer brothers, Peter and David, include the traditional skills of engraved stationery, plus litho, letterpress, thermography, foil blocking and embossing. The well known Raykard Series of printers card blanks is an important part of our business. We make and supply a wide range of cards.
